Even the smallest of industrial machine skates, such as the RL1 rotating dolly can handle up to 2,200 pounds, which is over a ton. Larger rotating machine skates can carry up to twelve tons, or 26,000 pounds. Some transport and tandem skate systems can accommodate loads up to 40 or even 60 tons.
End Uses
Another key difference between industrial machine skates and standard machine skates is end use. Industrial machine skates are designed for large, heavy loads, ranging from laboratory and manufacturing equipment to full-sized shipping containers. An industrial machine skate would be excessive for a retail environment or a residential move.
Some industrial machine skates can be made with nickel plating, making them suitable for laboratories, clean rooms, chip, chemical, and pharmaceutical manufacturing, and other sensitive environments. The vast majority of standard machine skates simply aren’t designed for this purpose and would introduce too many contaminants, such as “rust dust,” into the air.
